Welcome to the Rotary Club of Plimmerton Website

We meet at the Paremata Boating Club, on Thursdays, at 5.45pm for 6.30pm. (That's the Boating Club on our 'masthead' at the top of this page).

The Rotary Club of Plimmerton draws its membership from the northern suburbs of Porirua City. Porirua is situated on State Highway 1, 20km north of the capital, Wellington, and Paremata, where we meet is 5km further north. See map below. (You can zoom in or out for more details).

To get to our meeting, turn right into S.H. 58 at the Paremata roundabout, and head towards the suburbs of Whitby and Pauatahanui. The Paremata Boating Club is only 400m beyond the roundabout, but for parking, you should continue on to Ivey Bay, which is only a few hundred meters further on, where there is a good-sized carpark - see above map. Be sure to signal to other traffic, and turn into the carpark at the second entrance. Homeward-bound traffic can be heavy at this time in the evening.

You will not be disappointed! Our club, which currently has 61 members, has an enviable reputation for excellent fellowship, a lively programme of guest speakers, and a proud record of service, both locally and internationally.

In 2000, we won a Significant Achievement Award for the Porirua Skateboard Project, and in 2002 'Most Innovative Project' Award for the Computers in Homes project.

Our Club Banner Our club's banner (pictured at right) depicts a typical view from Plimmerton beach, with yachts in the foreground, and Mana Island in the background. There are two sailing clubs in the area, Paremata Boating Club (where we meet), and the Plimmerton Boating Club. Quite a number of prominent Kiwi yachtsmen, among them Russell Coutts of America's Cup fame, started their yachting careers in this area.
